Paul Safar by piano

 

Paul Safar is a composer of “Art Music” - active listening, concert or theatre based music. His original compositions continue the western classical music tradition as well as incorporate his love of jazz, pop and rock styles. Paul tries to push his creative abilities in each new project while maintaining accessibility for an audience. The majority of his output has been piano, chamber, vocal and theatrical pieces. Paul welcomes commissions and collaboration.

As a teacher, Paul enjoys a busy piano teaching studio working with ages 7-79. The students present recitals open to the public twice a year.

Paul is excited to announce that his two saxophone compositions have been included in the catalogue of Keepe Publishinghouse. "Frogs at Dusk (and Other Sounds of the Swamp)" for saxophone quartet and drumkit as well as "Soaring (Fantasia for tenor saxophone and piano)" are available for purchase here.

In addition, over the next few months, Paul will be uploading his extensive catalogue of piano and chamber music works through the online publishing house, sheetmusicplus. This will be the easiest and least expensive way to purchase Paul's sheet music for your own use.

Cascadia Composers presents:

"50/50 The Music of Ted Clifford and Paul Safar"

Cascadia Composers 11th concert season kicks off with new music celebrating the 50th birthday years of composers Ted Clifford and Paul Safar.

Concerts are Saturday, September 14th at 7:30 p.m. at Unity of the Valley Church in Eugene and Saturday, September 21st at the Old Church in Portland, also at 7:30 p.m.

Performers include members of the Delgani String Quartet, vocalist Nancy Wood as well as the composers themselves. Art songs, jazz inspired pieces and free improvisation should make for a variety filled evening.

Saturday, September 7th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 8th at 2:30 p.m. at the WIldish Theatre in Springfield, OR.

February 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at Unity Church, Daniel Heila and Paul Safar present "Hair, Reed, Hammer"

Compositions from these two Eugene based composers will feature the Delgani String Quartet, University of Oregon Saxophone Quartet with Idit Schner as well as works for solo piano.


On Friday, April 3rd at 5:30 p.m., OMTA Eugene hosts the annual Student Composition Celebration presenting new compositions from piano students in the area. Again at Unity of the Valley.
